1. Here in Ireland, the schools are closed since March 12th & we didn’t go back. A lot of mixed feelings on this. Our Class sizes are big and many of our classrooms are small so social distancing would have been a problem. Schools officially closing in the next 2 weeks for the Summer Holidays. Our Minister of Education has more or less said we will be going back as “normal” at the end of August.

2. Kia ora everyone, with aroha to you at points across the globe, from New Zealand.

   In New Zealand we have been back at school now since 18th May, after 5 weeks of online / remote learning. Most children were back by the second week, and there have been some interesting aspects to the return. One of the biggest was that until last week when New Zealand moved to Level 1 (no restrictions on groups, venues etc), all children were being greeted at the school gates by staff, parents unable to come into the school at all. This has led to greater independence by the youngest children in managing themselves to hang up bags, organise themselves to begin the day and sort their food.

   The children have been so pleased to be back with all of their friends and from last week, sport has restarted, with weekly practices and Saturday events, pools open, parties on, out hunting…you name it!

   I watched the UK TV show Gogglebox the other day, only a couple of weeks old, and there was a message from your esteemed leader, Mr Johnson. It was VERY confusing trying to figure out what you could and could not do. I was splitting my sides seeing the response from the TV watchers on the programme.

   Good luck to you all is all that I can say! AT least you are in summer which should provide some light relief!

3. Hi Julia!

   Here in Ireland (Rep), we have had schools and creche’s completely closed since March 12th. We usually finish the academic year at end of June. No child will have returned. Creche’s are due to reopen at the end of June and schools will not reopen until September. We have been slower to open society again but are in the process of doing so at the moment!

4. Here in Ghana,Schools have been on lockdown since 2nd March,2020 till now. So we have been on virtual classes.
